As far back as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the celestial world. The fact that there is an entire universe of knowledge, which exists on the fringes of everyday reasoning and has the potential to influence our collective destiny, is something I find remarkable.
I grew up in the company of several practicing astrologers, including my father. I was always amazed at how they were able to answer deeply personal questions from complete strangers with ease and accuracy. A personal loss during early childhood left me with several questions and, given my exposure to astrology, I ventured into this realm seeking answers. My background in technology marketing meant the subject matter was completely new to me, but, once I started my studies, 12 years ago, I discovered how deeply mathematical astrology was – with its roots in astronomy, entrenched in anthropology and human affairs.
My first guru was my father – Shri P. S. Venkataraman. Upon commencing formal training, I met my first teacher who taught at The Sanskrit College, Chennai. I trained under him for about 27 months. As soon as I completed the last course, I joined the Indian Council for Astrological Sciences founded by Shri B. V. Raman, the father of modern astrology. As I understand, while a formal education in astrology is entirely possible, one remains forever a student, as there is always more to learn, experience, and discover. Hence, my studies continue to this day.
